Description:

MOBIO collaborating with HED, General Contractor Brasfield & Gorrie, and under the leadership of Developer Signet Real Estate Group pursued this Public Private Partnership (P3) Student Housing development for FAU Boca Campus.

Phase I included the demolition of an existing housing facility – Algonquin Hall (94 Beds / 43,398 GSF) and a Housing and Residential Life auxiliary facility, building 46, (14,837 GSF) that is immediately adjacent to Algonquin Hall.  The auxiliary facility was currently occupied by FAU’s Housing and Residential Life offices and other student housing services.  Then, Phase I encompassed the development of approximately 500 beds in suite-style configuration primarily targeted towards sophomore students and will also support excess demand from junior and senior students.  The development site will be contained to the same footprint previously occupied by the two (2) demolished housing facilities. Phase I was targeted to open for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Phase II included the demolition of the existing University Village Apartments. Demolition was planned to be done in two (2) phases.  Partial demolition would take place in the Fall of 2022. The balance of the University Village Apartments would be demolished in the Fall of 2024.  Then, Phase II encompassed the development of approximately 700 apartment-style beds targeted towards junior and senior students.  The development site was planned to be within the same footprint where the partial demolition of the University Village Apartments would occur in Fall 2022. Phase II was targeted to open for the 2024-2025 academic year.  The demolition of the remaining University Village Apartments beds should take place after the Phase II Project opens.
