Description:
This project encompassed the assessment, confirmation, design, and construction of the replacement of most of the escalators within the PBIA Terminal Building. As part of this project, MOBIO provided direct support to RS&H to perform an assessment of the existing terminal facility for the capacity to accommodate "up-down" escalator arrangements between the public spaces of the baggage claim, concession/concourse, and ticketing levels. The DOA commissioned a separate consultant to conduct an escalator assessment, which report was dated June 25, 2014. That assessment studied the terminal's fourteen (14) escalators and recommended nine (9) of those to be replaced. Those escalators were A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and J. Escalators B, C, E, and H received the highest usage and were reported to be in the worst condition. The remaining five (5) escalators were recommended to receive a total cleanup and maintenance service by the current escalator maintenance contractor.
